The long and windy road from Bodrum takes to Gümüşlük in only 20 minutes. As you pass by Peksimet valley and come to the hill of the windmills, the panaroma see is a perfect combination of blue and green. Following the narrow road, you pass by white houses in numerous tones of green citrus gardens and as you reach the seaside the small bay will embrace you like the fishing boats and yacths anchored here you will feel safe in this natural harbour.
Myndos was founded by King Mausoloss the Emperor of Halicarnassos, ruins lies partly under the sea and under the ground, buried after many earthquakes took place centuries ago. Historical foundations are churches, cisterns, graves and wells. The architecture is with use of marble and sanitation of the ancient city is in place. According to nobel prize winner, Eric Von Daniken the lost civilization of Atlantis lies in the adjacent bay to Gümüşlük. Historical character Brutus lived in Gümüşlük in his final days. Crater lake within the small harbour is said to be a fresh water spring, the Romans used to mix the water from the spring with wine to heal people with stomach problems.
The small island at the entrance of the bay is called Rabbit island, inhabitants are of course rabbits. The natural beaches are of Blue Flag standart, meaning zero pollution preservation, are favored by sun lovers.
When the sun goes down a natural light show begins. Even after the sun dissapears behind the islands in the west, the fantastic dance of crimson, purple, pink and red goes on. At the twilight the first of the stars of the evening shine joyfully in the sky and on the still waters of the bay in harmony. Fullmoon is definitely an excatsy on top of this harmony.
